One of the best Black Friday deals is spending $150 at Saks Fifth Avenue and getting a $75 promotional gift card in exchange.
All you have to do is shop using the promo code “BFGIFTSF.”
This deal is available for purchases through Saturday, and the promo gift card will be eligible for use from Dec. 15 to Dec. 24. But what’s even better than getting a $75 promo gift card with a $150 purchase is that you can stack the deal to make it more beneficial.
Here’s what you need to know about the Saks Black Friday deal and how to get $225 in Saks purchases for as little as $100 out of pocket.
Saks $75 bonus gift card from Black Friday order
The promotion terms are as follows:
- Online shoppers should use the code “BFGIFTSF” at checkout.
- The offer is valid for online purchases at Saks through Saturday and for in-store purchases through Sunday.
- Certain brands and items are excluded from the promotion.
- Promotional gift cards are valid Dec. 15-Dec. 24 and can be redeemed both in Saks Fifth Avenue stores and online.
- The deal is limited to one gift card per person.
The promotional $75 gift card was emailed to me within about 36 hours in past years and had the subject line “Your Saks Fifth Avenue Gift Card.” Interestingly, it seemed to act like a regular gift card, not a promo one, and was available for immediate use. Of course, that may change at any time, so don’t count on that part.

10% cash back
Right now, you can start at Rakuten and get 10% cash back (or 10 American Express Membership Rewards points per dollar) on eligible Saks purchases.
This amount may vary during the Black Friday shopping frenzy; compare cash-back rates via Cashback Monitor to get the best deal.
If you are a new Rakuten customer, you can stack a $40 cash-back bonus on your purchase of $40 or more when joining with a referral link.
TPG’s Clint Henderson used the American Airlines eShopping platform to earn 5 miles and Loyalty Points per dollar spent for this year’s deal.
Use your $50 Amex Platinum statement credit
If you have The Platinum Card® from American Express, you can use an up-to-$50 statement credit valid at Saks Fifth Avenue every six months. Your second credit of the year expires Dec. 31, whether you use it or not, so this is an opportunity to stack these savings.
We have a guide on how that Saks statement credit works, but essentially, you need to activate that benefit in your Amex account and then pay for your order with your Platinum card. If you still have a $50 statement credit to use, it should be posted back to your Amex account automatically. Enrollment is required.
What to buy at Saks
Yes, Saks has $5,000 dresses and other humorously priced items, but there are still some other options that are nice but not outrageous. Here are a few items and brands I’ve enjoyed at Saks over the years to get you started:
- Villeroy & Boch set of four red wine goblets for $39.99 (normally $80)
- Glasshouse Fragrances The Hamptons candle for $42.50 (normally $50)
- Dagne Dover small Hunter toiletry bag for $33.75 (normally $45)
- Dagne Dover large Dakota backpack for $161.25 (normally $215)
- Rag & Bone Blake wool-blend beanie for $71.25 (normally $95)
Putting it all together
Let’s say you found $150 in Black Friday sale-eligible items you want. Add the promo code to get the $75 promotional Saks gift card, and you should see it in your cart if it worked correctly. Start your Saks purchase at Rakuten for 10% cash back. You’ll pay Saks the $150 and get $15 cash back in your Rakuten account.
If you use an Amex Platinum with a $50 Saks credit to pay, you’ll drop your effective price by $50, all the way down to $85 after the $15 cash back from Rakuten. Factor in that you’ll get a $75 promo certificate, and you’ve spent $85 in cash for $225 in goodies from Saks.
Hopefully, what you are buying is discounted to make it an even better overall deal. Just be aware that many sale items won’t trigger the gift card. It should show in your checkout screen.
If this is the way you get something like the Dagne Dover backpack that I’ve owned and loved for years, then you’ve done really well indeed.
