Book these flights as soon as you can — seats will likely fill up quickly.

Sample flights

These deals are offered by most major U.S. airlines, so you can fly to Florida from many major cities in the Northeast, Midwest and South.

In particular, the Houston and New York City-area airports have many cheap flights to Florida. There’s also ample availability for much of the spring, and even December, so a sunny escape is easily within reach.

These are some of the flights we’ve flagged:

  • American: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Orlando International Airport (MCO), starting at $90.
  • JetBlue: LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), starting at $148.
  • United: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Tampa International Airport (TPA), starting at $158.
  • United: George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), starting at $168.
  • American: Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to MCO, starting at $178.
  • American: O’Hare International Airport to TPA, starting at $158.

We recommend using Google Flights to determine your best dates and then booking your flights on the airline’s website, because airlines tend to be more reliable in the event a flight is canceled, delayed or experiences a booking change.

If you’re looking to fly from Austin to Orlando at the end of April, American’s $90 round-trip flight is ideal — the next-cheapest option costs $208.

These deals only apply to basic economy fares, so the appealing $90 price tag only extends to American’s cheapest fare class, which doesn’t come with a ton of perks.

American’s basic economy charges fees for seat selection and does not allow ticket changes. Passengers are allowed one carry-on.

We strongly recommend snatching these fares while they’re still available. At the time of publication, most of the seats on this American flight to Austin were still available, but given the low fares, they are sure to fill up.

The prices for seats vary, with the most expensive seats costing an additional $49 and the cheapest ones costing as little as $10. The most expensive seats offer the most legroom and come with complimentary wine, beer and spirits.

Bottom line

These deals are hard to beat. They’re perfect if you want to book your spring break trip now or if you’re looking for a quick getaway in the sun and the sand. There are also a ton of options, whether you want to visit Disney World in Orlando or enjoy the beaches in Tampa.

These fares are for basic economy only. However, it’s still a solid option, given the price and the fact that many major airlines are discounting fares to Florida during one of the best times to visit the state.
