Florida’s modern high-speed train line, Brightline, is adding two new stations to its South Florida network just in time for winter travel season.
Starting Dec. 21, Aventura and Boca Raton will join Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach to create a five-stop train route. The new stations offer touchless turnstiles, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and three different lounge spaces. The Aventura station offers a free shuttle to nearby Aventura Mall, and the Boca Raton station provides complimentary shuttle service to downtown Boca.
Brightline’s initial schedules for Aventura and Boca are designed to optimize commuter patterns, focusing on peak morning and evening weekday service, the company says. You can view a full schedule for Boca and Aventura here.
“Brightline is on a mission to build a better way to get there. We’re connecting the state and economies making it easier to do business while expanding your backyard in so many ways,” Patrick Goddard, president at Brightline, says. “Opening our stations in Aventura and Boca Raton is a community-wide effort that will alleviate congestion and regionalize South Florida.”
Next up for Brightline: All eyes are on Orlando. The service is expected to launch in 2023 at Orlando International Airport (MCO), despite plans for Disney Springs station being nixed.
The speedy train is expected to reach MCO from Miami in three hours; it’ll take about two hours from West Palm Beach which is about an hour less than it would take to drive.
An extension to Tampa is also in the works for Brightline moving forward.
