A new luxury brand with ties to Wyndham made its first U.S. appearance this week in Colorado.

The Mining Exchange, a Registry Collection Hotel, opened Thursday in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the brand’s first property in the U.S. The renovated 128-room hotel was formerly a stock exchange for gold and silver sourced from the Rocky Mountains during the early 20th century, but today, it’s all about modern luxury. Guests can expect a full-service spa, on-site art gallery, multiple dining spots and easy access to nearby attractions such as the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum and the Garden of the Gods.

“The Mining Exchange has been a Colorado icon since 1902,” Bashar Wali, founder and CEO of Practice Hospitality (the company currently managing The Mining Exchange), said in a statement. “Now, some 120 years on, we are honoring that heritage by creating a hotel imbued with local touches and human connection that has earned the distinction of being the first Registry Collection hotel in the U.S. We’re proud to be joining a world-class portfolio of international hotels and adding Colorado Springs to the global roster of Registry Collection destinations.”

We’re particularly intrigued by Blk Mgk, a coffee bar that serves breakfast and lunch — and tarot readings for those looking for a peek into the future while they sip their morning java. Golden Hour is the hotel’s indoor-outdoor cocktail lounge that offers smaller bites in the evening.

Guest rooms include vaulted ceilings and exposed brick with green, wood and leather accents. Local art, vintage-style furniture and Malin+Goetz bath amenities are also standard. Splurge on a suite for added features like a living area, daybed and powder room.

While this might be the first Registry Collection hotel in the U.S., it is just the latest in a rapid growth spurt for the brand, which Wyndham first launched in 2021. Registry Collection Hotels now has more than 20 hotels — and all-inclusive resorts — around the world, from Greece to Panama. Nearly 10 more are in the brand’s development pipeline.

Coupled with Wyndham’s push into lifestyle hotelsthe hotel company, typically associated with more budget offerings, is looking to raise the roof of its brand lineup.

“Today’s affluent travelers increasingly crave the bespoke and immersive experiences that boutique, independently minded operators can offer,” Wyndham CEO Geoff Ballotti said in a statement. “Through Registry Collection Hotels, we’re committed to curating these one-of-a-kind experiences for guests—all while helping owners tap into the unparalleled scale and resources of the world’s largest hotel franchisor.”

Cash rates at The Mining Exchange start as low as $150 per night through the fall, and the property participates in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. Members can earn double points and a $25 nightly in-stay credit when they book through the end of this year for stays completed by May 31, 2025.
